Happy Halloween...better late then never

My awesome pupkin

Amelia Earhart, A pirate, a pinata, and a hawaiian girl

I was a pirate, mainly because I already had parts of the costume. (Tommy was a pirate about 10 years ago) For not usually being much of a Halloween person this year was fun!

My First Pie!

Well actually this is a picture of the second pie I ever made. I had a goal of learning how to make a pie this fall and I did it. Delicious apple pie!

A Great Problem

Today I feel the great need to address a growing societal trend that is occurring in the greater Provo area. I am very troubled by the things I have witnessed. At times even disgusted. You may be wondering, what societal ill is Suzy so concerned over? Well my friends, it is the greater emergence of the mustache.

More and more lately I see young men with various types of mustaches everywhere that I go. They turn what may have once been a good looking young man into an unattractive young man. Often, the mustache makes them look creepy (not a look most girls are looking for).

I have often wondered why anyone would choose such a look. I have come up with a hypothesis. The Honor Code at BYU prevents young men from growing beards while attending school (unless by some chance you have a beard card). However, mustaches are allowed. In an effort to prove their masculinity and that they can indeed grow facial hair young men have resorted to the mustache.

I urge great caution to anyone who is considering growing a mustache. Very rarely can this look be pulled off. In my opinion, it is better to not even try.

Although these are not specific young men in the Provo area I feel as if they convey everything that I am thinking regarding the moustache.

The current world mustache champions (I'm not even joking, I saw the competition on ESPN a few weeks ago):

Welcome Back

I would like to welcome back Fall! My favorite season of the year! I love the crispness in the air that we already have. I am greatly anticipating such fall food delicacies as apple dumplings. I can't wait to pull out my jackets and sweaters that haven't been worn in months. I can already see the colors of the leaves changing color. Another great part of the fall, football. Oh what a glorious time of year!

Dr. Klopek

Today I was scanning the news to only to see that Henry Gibson had passed away. Now I was not familiar with the name so I clicked on the article to see a picture of non other then Dr. Klopek ("My brother, the doctor"). If you are unfamiliar with this charcter and the movie I speak of I only suggest that you sit down and watch the cinematic masterpiece "The 'Burbs". Thank you Mr. Gibson for playing the role of Dr. Klopek so magnificently and helping in creating one of my favorite movies of all time.

The First Day of School

I miss school. Is that lame? I went through years and years of school greatly anticipating graduation from BYU and now that I have been graduated for 16 months I miss it. I think that I miss it this time of year more then ever because everyone is going back to school. My little brother Tommy started last Wednesday and if I were still at the good old BY I would have started yesterday.

I love the first day of school. I love the anticipation of a new school year, of new learning opportunities, meeting new people, I love it all. When I was still living at home my mom always made a big breakfast and we took pictures out at the bus stop in our new school clothes. Those were the days.

I wish that I wouldn’t have been in such a hurry to graduate. I love going to school and being taught. It’s weird; I never imagined that I would miss it nearly as much as I do. I still feel like I should be loading up my backpack and heading up the hill to campus.

I guess I could always go back to school. Right now the thought of having to take tests and writing a thesis are just a little too much of a deterrent to go back for a masters.
